It’s notable that a career within the electrical industry, with its attractive options, remains a choice for lots of people. Whilst the original term is ‘Electro-Mechanical Engineering’ we will simply refer to the subject as the Electrical Industry. Equally we’ll focus on those credentials that fit the UK domestic and commercial sector rather than those from around the world. Due to the huge list of opportunities available for a career in the electrical industry, we have to begin by focusing on the main areas and look at the ‘add-ons’ later on.

Basically there are two clear ways to gain admission into the electrical market. To being with we have the older apprentice course and then secondly we have the option for those who wish to make a career change to join the industry. To begin with we have the ‘Junior Entrants’ and then we have the ‘Mature Entrants’.

Principally, Mature Entrants join the electrical workplace later on, and focus on becoming self employed. This means working on their own and not having to pay salaries to anyone else. Those who join as Junior Entrants, on the other hand, appear to do so with the aim of joining an established electrical firm – in order to gain further qualifications and experience whilst picking up practical and other work-place skills. Often a young apprentice will be in their first job since leaving school, and will therefore have a host of ancillary skills to learn during their first few years as a working adult.

These two distinct types of entry have two separate modes of training: NVQ’s are the key factor for all junior entrants. The core syllabus is similar to non NVQ commercial training, but the certification is compulsory. As a result students often have to find their own work programmes to give them the relevant testing and course work covered by most apprenticeships.

Instead of seeking a work-based training environment, the Mature Entrant often seems to focus on working as a self employed person where different qualifications to NVQ’s are preferred. In the main the person will aim to gain the best from their investment costs against the return for that training. This method may appear to reduce the levels of knowledge overall, but it does allow for an increase in the speed by which people enter and become more prevalent within the market.

So we have two defined routes laid out – one being for general employment and the other centred on self-employment. For the sake of this document we will assume that everyone involved in electrical employment is working full-time. Certainly, whilst salary levels can be affected by knowledge and qualifications, they can also be affected by competence and aptitude.

Basic salary for Junior Entrants can start at around 12 thousand per annum, often going above 35 thousand after several years in industry. On the other hand experienced self-employed electricians have been known to earn around 70 thousand or more within the UK. However, it should be borne in mind that a self-employed person must meet their own costs for tools, clothes and vehicles (including insurance and petrol.) Self employed people also have to allow for added expenses. With the current skills shortage in the UK, there is a high work load demand available. In light of the above, a full seven day week is available to most people should they want it. To be fair, high salaries bounded about by the press do require long working hours or help to achieve them.

In light of the above, it is often understood that there is wild variance between the working expectations of Junior and Mature Entrants. Electricians who are ‘Junior Entrants’ would work a simple 40 hour working week. To be fair, if the Mature electrician is focused on the domestic market then they often find themselves working out of hours, especially to support their clients when they get home. With many self-employed electricians the core of their income comes from items such as business testing and installation and as such operates during the main part of the week.

Any specialist knowledge the Junior Entrant gains whilst in someone’s employ is usually down to the sectors of industry that company works in. Alternatively, the mature entrant can gain other training outside of their chosen field, such as gas and plumbing work. Without a doubt the extra skills help them in their overall employ whether this is commercial or domestic work.

‘Green Engineering’ is another area to consider. This requires new skills and working knowledge and is one of the fastest growing areas today. With expected growth through new employment contracts and business options, this new entity is extremely attractive to many Junior and Mature Electricians, especially when considering the UK and EEC support overall.

The salaries of Plumbers are often highlighted in the national press. Within the UK, the figures of 30-70k p.a. are typical of Plumbers, mainly down to their low numbers. The question now is – are we being lied to, or is this the truth? To be certain, for the correctly qualified and experienced plumber, this level of salary is achievable and indeed attainable. Salaries of 70-100k p.a. are achievable, but these appear to be the area of the self-employed Plumbers rather than those who take the more familiar working methods.

If you enter the traditional work environment, primarily working for an established employer, then working hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm are standard. Furthermore from a UK employer, the usual perks are holiday pay and sickness allowance, as well as salaries of between 15k and 30k p.a. The self-employed person can generally achieve higher incomes than those available from the traditional approach, but would need to consider working ‘out of hours’ – and probably longer than the typical 9am-6pm Mon-Fri model. This is clear when self employed plumbers have to work evenings and weekends, where their domestic clients are working during the day.

There is the also the fact which fits some people more than others and that is self employment. By using ‘good business sense’, including getting your own cost per hour correct, items such as advertising and marketing can also be worked out. To be fair most self-employed people will have to prepare for additional costs including those relating to legal and accountancy fees as well as those of transport and material usage. While these costs can mount up, so too do the benefits, however the costs should always remain a smaller part of the income generated. And the benefits nearly always far outweigh the downsides!

Firstly, it is the ordinary employer who covers most of the needs and teaching prospects that Student Entrants are interested in. Alternatively, the Self Employed Entrant needs to quickly establish those certificates that they will rely on in industry. In fairness it is the ‘domestic’ market rather than the commercial sector that attracts the majority of the self-employed workers in the UK. (Whilst not everyone does the majority do!)

With reference to education in Plumbing, there is a likeness needed by each part of the industry in relation to the certification elements. Without a doubt the issue of NVQ’s (SVQ’s in Scotland) raises a constant concern as to the way forward.

To begin with, the Student Entrant appears to rely more heavily on the NVQ structure than the Self Employed Entrant. By calling upon a wider range of qualifications Self Employed Entrants will be able to meet their clients’ needs from the start. In order to be able to meet the needs of the typical household, self-employed persons will need to rapidly gain key domestic-centred qualifications. In a similar way to an apprenticeship the Student Entrant will, once the core learning tools have been learned, enter the workplace and be able to carry on the NVQ element of their study. As it is cheaper form of study overall then the Student Entrant can make financial savings from the beginning. But the Self Employed Entrant will gain certifications faster (motivated by a more commercial viewpoint) and will therefore be achieving considerable financial reward long before the Student Entrant.

To be sure the financial returns required is the result of clear careers discussions covering certification and the overall study requirements. It is often the issue of spending time at college and then having to go back to an apprenticeship for up to 3 years that proves difficult to many adults especially those that have a family to look after. Normally, self-employed students to pay for their courses themselves whereas the younger Student Entrants have the majority of their courses paid for them as part of their apprenticeships. The level of certification sought by the student drives the course structure and can result in costs of between 3k through to 10k+.

Self Employed Entrants can consider a wide range of private technical colleges as opposed to the reliance on further-education colleges and that differentiates them from Student Entrants. Often through the use of established training schemes many commercially oriented plumbing courses are now able to deliver the necessary skill-sets and qualifications. This method offers key advantages to Self Employed Students, allowing them to train evenings, part-time or on self-study classes thereby continuing with their existing jobs and maintaining their financial situation. Considering so many options on hand it is clever to gather data from as many sources as one can. To review your options why not book mark this page (CTRL-D) and you can come back and review the links and adverts we have provided for you.

To increase their ‘marketability’ many plumbing students will go on to utilise extra courses. Courses in areas such as Gas, Electrical and Green Energy can provide added certifications. Gas training has always been a route for Plumbers to consider, as this forms part of the common domestic and commercial heating system.

Gas Training is considered a dedicated training program with key subjects followed by important NVQ’s. It also features many options for on-going training, especially for those who trained as a plumber first and are now looking at some extra skills to add to their stable. In review it is often felt that the mature student responds well to the blend of Gas/Plumbing training. For the Mature Student the emphasis appears to be reducing the NVQ elements and focussing on the core subjects.

It is from this mix of training methods that the self-employed professional appears to benefit. The opportunity to learn a wider range of perceived skill-sets (whilst earning money from them) becomes the attraction. Instead of having to rely upon third parties to complete certain skill-sets, this adds to their commercial viability. Sub-contracting can not only reduce the earning potential of a job, but also erode the value in the customer’s eye, as they may have to wait for key stages to be handled by someone else before the final completion of the job. The higher the skill level of a Plumber the more that they can offer their client base.

In retrospect, the Self Employed Entrant has the potential to achieve a much higher and more readily available income stream than Student Entrant, but to do so they need to develop both their business skills and achieve a broader range of certifications. Note: This information refers to the UK industry requirement and their policies alone.

In these days of super efficiency, support workers who have the ability to mend PC’s and networks, plus give ongoing help to users, are vital in all sections of industry. Our requirement for more technically qualified people multiplies, as society becomes significantly more beholden to computers in today’s environment.

Proper support is incredibly important – look for a package offering 24×7 direct access to instructors, as anything else will annoy you and definitely hold up your pace and restrict your intake.

Always avoid certification programs which can only support trainees through a message system when it’s outside of usual working hours. Companies will try to talk you round from this line of reasoning. But, no matter how they put it – you need support when you need support – not when it’s convenient for them.

If you look properly, you’ll find the top providers which provide their students direct-access support 24×7 – even in the middle of the night.

Never make do with a lower level of service. Direct-access 24×7 support is the only kind that ever makes the grade with technical training. Perhaps you don’t intend to study during the evenings; but for most of us, we’re working when traditional support if offered.

It’s important to understand: the training program or a certification is not what you’re looking for; the particular job you’re training for is. Far too many training organisations put too much weight in the piece of paper.

Avoid becoming part of the group who choose a training program that sounds really ‘interesting’ and ‘fun’ – and end up with a certification for a career they’ll never really get any satisfaction from.

Be honest with yourself about how much you want to earn and how ambitious you are. Often, this changes what exams will be expected and what you can expect to give industry in return.

Talk to an experienced industry professional who knows about the sector you’re looking at, and could provide a detailed run-down of what you actually do in that role. Contemplating this long before commencement of any retraining course will prevent a lot of wasted time and effort.

Let’s face it: There really is pretty much no individual job security anywhere now; there’s only industry or business security – companies can just drop any single member of staff if it suits their business interests.

In actuality, security now only emerges in a fast rising market, driven by a lack of trained workers. It’s this shortage that creates the right conditions for a secure marketplace – definitely a more pleasing situation.

The 2006 national e-Skills analysis showed that more than 26 percent of all IT positions available haven’t been filled because of a lack of trained staff. To put it another way, this highlights that the United Kingdom is only able to source 3 certified professionals for each four job positions existing currently.

This single reality on its own underpins why the United Kingdom urgently requires considerably more people to get into the industry.

In reality, acquiring professional IT skills as you progress through the next year or two is probably the greatest career choice you could ever make.

We’re regularly asked to explain why academic qualifications are less in demand than the more commercial qualifications?

With a growing demand for specific technological expertise, industry has moved to the specialised core-skills learning only available through the vendors themselves – in other words companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA. This usually turns out to involve less time and financial outlay.

Obviously, a necessary amount of background information needs to be learned, but precise specialised knowledge in the required areas gives a vendor educated student a real head start.

Just as the old advertisement said: ‘It does what it says on the tin’. Employers simply need to know where they have gaps, and then match up the appropriate exam numbers as a requirement. They’ll know then that all applicants can do what they need.

If searching for training tracks certified by Microsoft, it stands to reason you'll want training providers to supply a wide selection of the finest training courses on the market today.

If searching for training tracks certified by Microsoft, it stands to reason you’ll want training providers to supply a wide selection of the finest training courses on the market today.

Maybe you’d like to look for a person who’s got industry experience, who might give you help to sort out what sort of job would suit you, and what sort of tasks are correct for a person with your character and ability.

Be assured that your training course is put together to your current level of knowledge and ability. Select a company that will make sure that your training track is designed for the career you want to get into.

Don’t accept anything less than the most up to date Microsoft (or any other key organisation’s) accredited exam simulation and preparation packages.

Make sure that the simulated exams haven’t just got questions from the right areas, but ask them in the same way that the proper exam will ask them. It can really throw some trainees if the phraseology and format is completely different.

Mock exams will prove very useful as a tool for logging knowledge into your brain – so that when you come to take the real deal, you don’t get phased.

The old fashioned style of teaching, using textbooks and whiteboards, is usually pretty hard going. If you’re nodding as you read this, dig around for more practical courses which have a majority of interactive, multimedia parts.

Research into the way we learn shows that much more of what we learn in remembered when we use all our senses, and we get practically involved in what we’re studying.

The latest audio-visual interactive programs with demonstrations and practice sessions will beat books every time. And you’ll actually enjoy doing them.

Make sure to obtain a training material demonstration from the training company. The materials should incorporate demo’s from instructors, slideshows and lab’s for you to practice your skills in.

Select physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s where possible. You can then avoid all the difficulties of internet connection failure and issues with signal quality.

Many trainers supply a practical Job Placement Assistance program, to assist your search for your first position. With the great need for more IT skills in the UK at the moment, there isn’t a great need to become overly impressed with this service however. It isn’t such a complex operation to get a job once you’re properly qualified.

You would ideally have advice and support about your CV and interviews though; and we’d recommend any student to bring their CV up to date the day they start training – don’t wait till you’ve finished your exams.

It’s possible that you won’t have even got to the exam time when you land your first junior support job; however this won’t be the case unless your CV is with employers.

Generally, a local IT focused recruitment consultancy (who will get paid commission to place you) should get better results than any recruitment division from a training organisation. They should, of course, also know the local industry and employment needs.

Just ensure you don’t conscientiously work through your course materials, and then just stop and imagine someone else is miraculously going to sort out your employment. Take responsibility for yourself and get out there. Invest as much focus into landing the right position as it took to pass the exams.

When was the last time you considered how safe your job is? Typically, this only rears its head when something goes wrong. But in today’s marketplace, the lesson often learned too late is that true job security is a thing of the past, for nearly everyone now.

But a fast growing sector, with huge staffing demands (as there is a massive shortfall of properly qualified workers), provides a market for lasting job security.

Investigating the computing market, the recent e-Skills study showed a more than 26 percent shortfall of skilled workers. This shows that for every 4 jobs that exist around computing, we’ve only got three properly trained pro’s to perform that task.

This fundamental certainty shows an urgent requirement for more commercially certified computing professionals in the United Kingdom.

While the market is growing at such a speed, is there any other market worth investigating for your new career.

What might you expect the best Microsoft accredited suppliers to give a student in Britain in this day and age? Patently, the ultimate in Microsoft accredited programs, offering a range of courses to take you to a variety of careers in the IT workplace.

What might you expect the best Microsoft accredited suppliers to give a student in Britain in this day and age? Patently, the ultimate in Microsoft accredited programs, offering a range of courses to take you to a variety of careers in the IT workplace.

Perhaps you’d hope to be given advice on the sort of careers that are available when you’ve finished studying, and what sort of person that work might be right for. Many people like to discuss what the best route is for them.

When you’ve chosen the area you want to get into, an applicable training course needs to be selected that’s a match for your needs. This can be personally tailored for your requirements.

Getting into your first IT role sometimes feels easier to handle if you’re offered a Job Placement Assistance service. It can happen though that there is more emphasis than is necessary on this service, because it is actually not that hard for well qualified and focused men and women to secure work in this industry – as there is such a shortage of well trained people.

However, don’t procrastinate and wait until you have qualified before getting your CV updated. Right at the beginning of your training, mark down what you’re doing and get promoting!

You may not have got to the stage where you’ve passed your first exam when you land your first junior support job; however this is not possible unless your CV is with employers.

In many cases, a specialist independent regional employment agency – who make their money when they’ve found you a job – should get better results than any recruitment division from a training organisation. It also stands to reason that they’ll be familiar with the area and local employers better.

Various people, so it seems, are prepared to study their hearts out (sometimes for years), and then just stop instead of finding their first job. Market yourself… Work hard to let employers know about you. A job isn’t just going to bump into you.

Discovering job security in the current climate is incredibly rare. Businesses often drop us from the workforce at the drop of a hat – as long as it fits their needs.

It’s possible though to hit upon security at market-level, by searching for areas that have high demand, coupled with work-skill shortages.

Offering the computer industry as an example, a key e-Skills analysis demonstrated a national skills shortage throughout the UK around the 26 percent mark. Alternatively, you could say, this shows that the UK is only able to source three properly accredited workers for each 4 positions in existence at the moment.

This distressing concept reveals the urgent need for more commercially trained computer professionals across the UK.

For sure, now really is the very best time for retraining into Information Technology (IT).

Always expect the most up to date Microsoft (or any other key organisation’s) authorised exam preparation and simulation materials.

Avoid depending on unofficial exam papers and questions. The way they’re phrased can be quite different – and this could lead to potential problems once in the actual exam.

Practice exams will prove enormously valuable as a resource to you – so much so, that at the proper exam, you don’t get uptight.

You should remember: a training program or a certification is not the ultimate goal; the career that you want is. Too many training companies place too much importance on the piece of paper.

It’s quite usual, for example, to find immense satisfaction in a year of study and then spend 20 miserable years in a job you hate, simply because you did it without the correct level of soul-searching at the outset.

Never let your focus stray from what it is you’re trying to achieve, and create a learning-plan from that – don’t do it the other way round. Stay on target and ensure that you’re training for a job that will keep you happy for many years.

Our recommendation would be to seek guidance and advice from an experienced industry professional before embarking on some particular study path, so you’re sure from the outset that the chosen route will give you the skills necessary.

When do you require a reverse phone service?

When do you require a reverse phone service?

If you need to locate the location and name of the caller of a specific cellular or landline phone number and the number is not listed in the white pages or phonebooks, you then will need to use a reverse phone lookup service.

By combining multiple sources of information, they provide users with a capability to search through a huge database containing almost all phone numbers in the USA. This database includes land line numbers, unlisted numbers and cell phone numbers.

Due to privacy consideration, these reverse phone lookup services are bounded by some agreements with the phone companies. They cannot provide all these information for free. This is the main reason why you need to pay to use the service with either a valid credit card or paypal account.

This could help to reduce the potential of illegal usage like stalking. Moreover, phone companies also charge these services for accessing their database. Therefore, reverse lookup services can recoup their operation costs by having a subscription fee.

Can I reverse lookup a phone number for free?

If you do not want to use those paid services, there are still a few approach you can try. You can find the number in publicly available whitepages or phone books. You can also use a search engine like Google or Yahoo.

The issue is if your number is unlisted or it is a cell phone number, then chances are you are not going to find any information as they are normally not publicly available. But you can still go ahead and give it a try.

What kind of information you can expect to find using a cell phone lookup service?

You can expect to find the owner’s name and address. Some services also provide additional information such as the list of household members.

How do I use a phone reverse lookup service?

You just need to enter the phone number you want to find out into a simple form. You will likely to get the following information for free:

* Whether the number a cellular or landline.
* The city and state where the number is registered.
* Any additional information about the number.

To get the phone owner’s name, you will need to pay a fee to access the information. A yearly membership plan is also available. As explained above, the payment is needed to prevent the service from being abused.

Is it illegal to use such services?

These services are legal as long as you did not use it for unlawful purposes and you are not using it for telemarketing purposes.

Go to the Reverse Phone Lookup website to perform reverse phone lookup and find the owner of any cell phone, landline or unlisted number.

Good for you! Reading this subject matter indicates you’re probably contemplating your career, and if training for a new career’s in your mind you’ve already done more than almost everybody else. Are you aware that a small minority of us describe ourselves as satisfied and happy at work – but most will take no corrective action. We encourage you to stand out from the crowd and make a start – those who do hardly ever regret it.

We recommend you seek advice first – find an industry expert; an advisor who can discover your ideal job, and offer only the learning programs which will get you there:

* Is collaborating with others important to you? Is that as part of a team or with a lot of new people? Perhaps working alone on specific tasks would give you pleasure?

* Have you given much thought to which industry you choose to work in? (Post credit crunch, it’s even more crucial to get it right.)

* Is this the last time you imagine you’ll re-train, and based on that, will this new career service that need?

* Are you concerned with regard to your chances of finding new employment, and staying employable to the end of your working life?

We ask you to have a good look at the IT sector – there are increasingly more roles than staff to fill them, and it’s one of the few choices of career where the sector is growing. Despite what some people believe, IT isn’t all techie people gazing at their computer screens all day long (though naturally some jobs are like that.) The majority of jobs are filled by ordinary men and women who want to earn a very good living.

Authorised exam preparation and simulation materials are a must – and should definitely be sought from your training supplier.

Be sure that the exams you practice haven’t just got questions in the right areas, but ask them in the exact format that the real exams will phrase them. This can really throw some people if they’re faced with unrecognisable phrases and formats.

Why don’t you test your knowledge by doing quizzes and practice in simulated exam environments to prepare you for taking the actual exam.

Locating job security nowadays is very rare. Businesses can remove us out of the workplace at a moment’s notice – as and when it suits them.

When we come across escalating skills deficits mixed with high demand areas of course, we generally reveal a newly emerging type of market-security; driven forward by the constant growth conditions, organisations struggle to find the number of people required.

With the IT business as an example, a recent e-Skills investigation showed a skills gap across the country of around 26 percent. Meaning that for each four job positions that exist across IT, there are barely three qualified workers to perform that task.

Properly taught and commercially educated new workers are therefore at a complete premium, and it’s estimated to remain so for a long time.

No better time or market circumstances will exist for getting trained into this hugely emerging and developing sector.

One of the most important things to insist on has to be proper direct-access 24×7 support via expert mentors and instructors. Too many companies only seem to want to help while they’re in the office (9am till 6pm, Monday till Friday usually) and nothing at the weekends.

Try and find training where you can receive help at all hours of the day and night (no matter if it’s in the middle of the night on a weekend!) You’ll need access directly to professional tutors, and not access to a call-in service which takes messages – so you’re constantly waiting for a call-back – probably during office hours.

Keep looking and you’ll come across professional training packages which give students online support at all times – at any time of day or night.

Look for a training provider that gives this level of learning support. As only round-the-clock 24×7 support truly delivers for technical programs.

Consider only training programmes that’ll progress to industry approved accreditations. There’s a plethora of small colleges promoting ‘in-house’ certificates which are worthless in today’s commercial market.

From the viewpoint of an employer, only the top companies like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe (to give some examples) will get you into the interview seat. Nothing else hits the mark.

For those interested in joining a web design team, an Adobe Dreamweaver course is a fundamental criteria for attaining relevant certifications that are recognised around the world.

For those interested in joining a web design team, an Adobe Dreamweaver course is a fundamental criteria for attaining relevant certifications that are recognised around the world.

Additionally, it’s good practice that you learn all about the entire Adobe Web Creative Suite, which includes Flash and Action Script, to have the facility to facilitate Dreamweaver professionally as a web designer. This knowledge can mean later becoming an Adobe Certified Expert or Adobe Certified Professional (ACE or ACP).

In order to become a web designer of professional repute however, you’ll have to get more diverse knowledge. You’ll need to study various programming essentials like HTML, PHP and MySQL. An excellent grasp of E-Commerce and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) will also improve your CV and employability.

Some training providers will provide a useful Job Placement Assistance service, to assist your search for your first position. Because of the great skills shortage in this country today, it’s not necessary to get too caught up in this feature though. It isn’t so complicated as you might think to get the right work as long as you’ve got the necessary skills and qualifications.

Bring your CV up to date as soon as possible however (advice can be sought on this via your provider). Don’t delay for when you’re ready to start work.

Having the possibility of an interview is more than not being regarded at all. Often junior positions are got by trainees (sometimes when they’ve only just got going.)

The top companies to get you a new position are usually specialised and independent recruitment consultants. As they will get paid by the employer when they’ve placed you, they have more incentive to get on with it.

Please make sure you don’t conscientiously work through your course materials, and then just stop and imagine someone else is miraculously going to sort out your employment. Stop procrastinating and make your own enquiries. Channel as much time and energy into getting the right position as you did to gain the skills.

It’s usual for students to get confused with one area of their training which is often not even considered: The breakdown of the course materials before being packaged off through the post.

Often, you’ll enrol on a course taking 1-3 years and receive a module at a time. It seems to make sense on one level, but consider these issues:

What would happen if you didn’t finish all the exams at the proposed pace? Sometimes their preference of study order won’t be as easy as another different route may.

For the perfect solution, you want ALL the study materials up-front – enabling you to have them all to return to any point – at any time you choose. Variations can then be made to the order that you complete your exams where a more intuitive path can be found.

We can guess that you’ve always enjoyed practical work – a ‘hands-on’ type. Usually, the painful task of reading endless manuals is something you’ll force on yourself if you absolutely have to, but you’d hate it. So look for on-screen interactive learning packages if book-based learning really isn’t your style.

Memory is vastly improved when all our senses are brought into the mix – experts have been clear on this for years now.

You can now study via interactive discs. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you’ll find things easier to remember via the expert demonstrations. Then you test your knowledge by interacting with the software and practicing yourself.

It’s wise to view some examples of the kind of training materials you’ll be using before you sign on the dotted line. The minimum you should expect would be instructor-led video demonstrations and audio-visual elements backed up by interactive lab’s.

Opt for CD or DVD ROM based materials where possible. This then avoids all the potential pitfalls with broadband outages, failure and signal quality issues etc.

Throw out any salesperson who recommends a training program without an in-depth conversation to assess your abilities plus your experience level. They should be able to select from a large range of products from which they could give you an appropriate solution.

With a strong background, or even a touch of work-based experience (possibly even some previous certification?) then it’s likely the point from which you begin your studies will be quite dissimilar from someone who is just starting out.

It’s usual to start with a user-skills course first. This can help whip your basic knowledge into shape and make the learning curve a less steep.

For anyone looking to get into a web design team, studying Adobe Dreamweaver is a fundamental criteria for getting relevant certifications that are globally recognised.

For anyone looking to get into a web design team, studying Adobe Dreamweaver is a fundamental criteria for getting relevant certifications that are globally recognised.

For professional applications you will require an in-depth understanding of the entire Adobe Web Creative Suite. This is including (but is by no means restricted to) Flash and Action Script. If your goal is to become an Adobe Certified Professional or an Adobe Certified Expert these skills will be absolutely essential.

Learning how to build the website is only the beginning. Traffic creation, content maintenance and knowledge of some programming essentials should follow. Look for training that also include these skills (such as PHP, HTML, MySQL etc.), alongside Search Engine Optimisation and E Commerce.

A study programme should always lead to a nationally (or globally) recognised accreditation as an end-goal – definitely not some ‘in-house’ diploma – fit only for filing away and forgetting.

All the major commercial players like Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco or CompTIA each have globally renowned skills programmes. Huge conglomerates such as these will make your CV stand-out.

Commercial certification is now, very visibly, already replacing the more academic tracks into the industry – so why has this come about?

The IT sector is now aware that for mastery of skill sets for commercial use, proper accreditation from companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA most often has much more specialised relevance – at a far reduced cost both money and time wise.

Obviously, a necessary portion of relevant additional detail needs to be learned, but core specialised knowledge in the exact job role gives a commercially trained student a huge edge.

Just as the old advertisement said: ‘It does what it says on the tin’. Employers simply need to know what areas need to be serviced, and then advertise for someone with the specific certification. Then they’re assured that a potential employee can do exactly what’s required.

There is a tidal wave of change flooding technology in the near future – and this means greater innovations all the time.

We’re barely starting to get to grips with how this will truly impact our way of life. The way we interrelate with the rest of the world will be significantly affected by technology and the web.

A usual IT technician throughout Britain has been shown to receive considerably more than employees on a par in other market sectors. Standard IT salaries are around the top of national league tables.

It would appear there is a lot more room for IT jobs growth throughout this country. The market sector continues to develop quickly, and as we have a significant shortage of skilled professionals, it’s not likely that it will even slow down for a good while yet.

The way in which your courseware is broken down for you isn’t always given the appropriate level of importance. How many stages do they break the program into? And in what order and how fast does each element come?

The majority of training companies will set up a 2 or 3 year study programme, and send out each piece as you complete each section or exam. On the surface this seems reasonable – until you consider the following:

Maybe the order of study insisted on by the company won’t suit you. You may find it a stretch to finalise all the sections at the speed required?

To avoid any potential future issues, it’s normal for most trainees to insist that all study materials are delivered immediately, and not in stages. It’s then your own choice how fast or slow and in what order you’d like to work.
